Dr Rebecca Seton

Colorectal Surgeon

Special areas of interest

Dr Seton is a specialist Colorectal Surgeon. She graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2008 and obtained her Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016. 

She undertook her general surgical training in the Northern Sydney Network and then post-fellowship colorectal training at Royal North Shore Hospital. She completed further colorectal training in the United Kingdom. She completed the Colchester Laparoscopic Fellowship (part of the Royal College of Surgeons Senior Clinical Fellowship Scheme) and was appointed as a locum consultant colorectal surgeon there, where she specialised in laparoscopic surgery for both benign and malignant disease. At St Mark’s Hospital, London (a world-renowned specialist gastrointestinal hospital), she gained experience in the surgical and multidisciplinary management of complex coloproctology, in particular intestinal failure & rehabilitation (working in the Lennard-Jones Intestinal Rehabilitation Unit, one of the UK’s two accredited national reference centres for severe intestinal failure), and pelvic floor pathology (working with the UK’s largest specialist biofeedback team); alongside complex inflammatory bowel disease surgery, intestinal polyposis, abdominal wall reconstruction as well as advanced proctology.

 

Dr Seton is a Visiting Medical Officer at both Royal North Shore and Ryde Hospitals. She is appointed as the Head of Department for the Acute Surgical Unit (ASU) at RNSH. She is a Clinical Lecturer at the USYD Northern Clinical School and an accredited da Vinci robotic surgeon
